This really isnt a big deal... but just thought about it since I just reinstalled 3dgs. In the future would it be possible to place the tech demo inside a folder in the work folder.

Everytime I have to reinstall I end up placing it in a folder and just name it tech demo.. To keep my work folder more organized. Just thought that this would save a lil time when it comes to reinstalling 3dgs. It might even give a good example to new comers on how they can organize their own projects.

Just a thought and figured it wouldnt likley be difficult to do and might help a few people out.

... i'd too love to see a new techndemo with shaders, funky particle effects and hi-poly models, so that it is really a techdemo to show off what the nowadays 3dgs can do.

Yes, the current tech demo is not even worth the name.
There are some many talented artists around, visual and technical,
so it shouldnt be that hard to find a someone who crates a new
one, which shows the real possibilities of A6 in its current and
future state, which outstanding graphics and effects.

if sth. like this is wanted, i volunteer for modelling.

the basic idea of the techdemo isn't bad, so it is a corridor with many rooms, each showing another feature. all i would do is make new rooms (ideas here!) and arrange them in a differentway: something round like a parthenon temple with a big statue in the middle, and the demo rooms being aligned radially to it.

so we need ideas for the rooms. my suggestions:
- the centre room (big statue, rotating slowly. in front 4 computers which you can click on. one switches the model to wireframe, two to solid, three to textured, four to normal mapped)
- nature room (terrain, water, plants etc.)
- particle room (rain, fire, explosion effects)
- light room (static and dynamic light, candles floating around or sth. like that)
- your suggestions here...

I like this idea to update this old level. The thread reminds me a little bit of the thread "Call for Goodies" in the Updates&Announcements-section.

Edit: A video of this level would be great. Maybe someome here has more video experiences than i.

Edit2: The Expert, you're right we need more modellers or guys with much art knowledge than scripters like i. (I really want to know how modelling and so on works, but this is an another story) Maybe over the night I will get a great idea how the new TechDemo-Level construction could be look like,....

a new techdemo would only be great for 3DGS advert

why not a mix of different games in one like GTA
First , befoer asking contribute people, we should collect lot of ideas and different themes (not only horror very dark and borring ones !)

2 : ask people to produce skecthes of models and levels.

3 : skecth about special effects particles: magic circles ,invocations etc ...

4 : use of shaders in some models ro sections/parts of the demo

5 : ask people to contribut , and only accept good 3D art , newbbie
art or too low poly models will be disallowed.

Yes it should be used medium poly models for certain scenes from 3500 polys
to 8000 or more like 12000 (God OF War on PS2 used more even polygons for
level boss !)

Yeah the game should not look low poly at all , and could use normal maps.

that's an idea just , caus until now, we haven't seen ground breaking art here (
mainly programmers are here !

Shaders also are a must have.
But to be honest, i'm not giving that much chances to that project,
see how other communitiy failed, but i'd be happy if you prove me wrong.
