posting 3d model screenshots - 07/12/09 20:47

Hello. I haven't been around here for a while.

Now i see that the old Showcase 1 and 2 forums are gone and I can't find a right forum to post screenshots of some of my latest models.

If they are for a game, you could always post in the 'projects' forum..

Well I'm a freelancer artist and I just wanted to show some of my latest work, I don't think that will fit in thr projects forum smirk

I never noticed that before that the new forums are only focusing on projects, not on models and so on.
But, they actually fulfill the old role of showcase 1 and showcase 2.

Wow, I'm impressed smile can I get some questions answered by a more experienced modeller?
1. Do you draw the skins for your models from scratch or you combine defferent textures with some editing? I mean the fur for instance, do you draw it yourself in Photoshop or whatever, or just take it from fur textures and fit to the Unwrap?
2. What software do you use? (if not a secret)
3. How long does it take you to create a full model with textures and animations?
Thank you in advance smile

@Andvari
What type of program do you use to make those amazing models?

@BastovBros:

1.- Sometimes I use google images to find a base texture (like the scales for the Naga or the fur for the Hellhound) and then I mix them with hand painted textures using various Layer blending effect.

2.- I use 3dsmax8, Photoshop CS3 and a sexy Wacom Intuos 3 tablet smile

3.- Depends of the complexity of the model and the amount of animations, but the range is about 1 week to 1 month.

@Angelina: I work with 3dsmax8 and Photoshop CS2

Thanks! laugh

OMG, how much I want to buy a tablet somewhere... unfortunately, no money for that smile Wacom Intuos 3 is much better than a computer mouse wink

3dconexxion's SpaceNavigator helps a lot too laugh

You have total control of the canvas when painting in photoshop, you can zoom in/out, pan and change de brush size just with a slight twist of your wrist

Re: posting 3d model screenshots - 07/14/09 09:02

huh, have never heard of such thing smile well, I think a tablet is enough for good painting, nothing can be compared with having a pen in your hand... mouse sucks!! smile Actually, I would spend 59$ to buy a simple tablet than to buy this Spacenavigator .....
