wow
at the first level i thought that ita just invisible body, that runs in the real world... but on the second...

Nice idea to use an usual passive scene rendering property as an active game element

That blew me away, I wanna make a shadow game!

*tilts head slightly to the right*
how did they do that?

Very creative idea. I like simple, yet innovative ideas like this.

Re: Shadow Physics :-) - 04/28/09 00:35

The guy you controll is actually on a 2d canvas (where the shadows are)
so its basically a 2d game from this perspective.

But the 2D world is generated by the shadows (objects and angle
of light) of the 3D world.
What you need to be able to do is determine where on the wall
(the 2D gamecanvas) there is light, and where is shadow.

I guess he can directly extract that information out of the
rendered texture (shadows) of the wall in the back.
In gamestudio you could do this for example also
(workaorund)
by using a lot of traces from the light to the wall for a "internal" shadow.
-or by directly grabbing that info from the shadow-shader

Wow. I love this. Such an interesting idea for a game.

This is really neat, looks like fun!

Re: Shadow Physics :-) - 04/28/09 20:49

actually in my head i just figured it out, just take the projected target map, and draw the character on in where he should be and all you have to do is know that if the place is marked as shadow its not free... actually a lot easier than i thought. of course damocles' thoughts were basically almost exactly that so i give credit more to him laugh

Re: Shadow Physics :-) - 04/28/09 21:21

can't you just make the player invisble but still render the shadow, a lot simpler?

Re: Shadow Physics :-) - 04/28/09 21:55

Simpler? That's not how it works. You can interact with objects that are normaly not even close to eachother. You can't when using a "3d" player.

Re: Shadow Physics :-) - 04/28/09 22:07

damn, my plan of simpler failed XD
