Z12 Stop Loss - 11/01/16 22:25

Hi,
I recently started the z12 strategy on a demo account with IC MArkets and the MT4 bridge with $5000 balance.
Today I had the first trade open as below

{XAG/USD:BB:s8401} Short 13@18.3460 Risk 487$ ts......
[XAG/USD:NET:S0406] Short 13@18.3460 Pool trade..

but the SL has been set at 29.347.
THis is far far up. Please see attached screenshot.
Don't think this is normal.

Anyone has a better understanding ?
Thanks

Pretty sure that's the 'disaster stop' that sits on the broker server. The actual stop loss would be handled script-side and executed as a market order if price trades at its level.

This is just my assumption based on how Zorro works - I don't actually trade that system myself. But if you search in the manual, I'm sure you'll be able to confirm or deny my assumption.

Hi vinsom, boatman, (& jcl?),

My initial reaction was the same as boatman's - it's the "disaster stop" - i.e., the stop sent to the broker, not the script's real stop (hidden from the broker to prevent stop hunting).

However, elsewhere jcl has noted 30% as the general figure for these stops (tighter for certain assets/brokers), and this stop is quite a bit beyond that - so, wondering if something else is going on here?

Re: Z12 Stop Loss - 11/04/16 03:00

This monster stop is useless because it can wipe out 10% of your account.

In my FXCM 10000 Euro demo there is a similar trade with a much smaller stop:
{XAG/USD:BB:s7902} Short 1@18.3680 Risk 41$ ts at 20:12:01
Here is the link: http://www.fxblue.com/users/zorroz12

Another question is, why should I hide the stop from my broker? If you think your broker tries to trick you out, you better look for another broker. Usually I trade my systems with more than 1 broker because 1. it is an easy way to monitor the quality of your broker and 2. a desaster can happen everywhere. I noticed that over time the quality of a broker can change. My favourites in the moment are ActivTrades, JFD and LMAX.

Re: Z12 Stop Loss - 11/10/16 00:28

Another strange SL for USD/CHF.
See log below.
This is far far far from the 30%, about 400%, and is also invalid for the broker.
Anyone from Zorro team has any clue ?
Still with the MT4 bridge woth ICMarkets broker and Z12 default settings, but switched to a AUD$50000 account

Re: Z12 Stop Loss - 11/10/16 00:51

I also set up an FXCM demo account with AUD $50000 to compare, and the SL are placed at completely different values.
The ones set with FXCM seems more reasonable stops, while the one with MT4 brige are far out.
Can't trust the MT4 bridge for now.
Anyone in Zorro's team has any idea ?
Please see attached screenshots.

Thanks
Vincenzo

All stops are handled by Zorro, not by the broker, so stop values that you see in your platform have no meaning for your trading. And pool trades never stop anyway.

Re: Z12 Stop Loss - 11/10/16 10:49

Hi, yes all stops are handled by zorro, so should be at similar prices for both fxcm and MT4 Brokers.
But what I see is that for example a SELL or EURUSD on MT4 broker have a SL at 1.74990, and on FXCM at 1.36860.
Stop values have no meaning for zorro trading that's true, but have meaning if there is a system failure or something like the USDCHF crash.
It they would have no meaning why put them in the first place ?

Thanks for your help
Vincenzo
