Right now, the -diag parameter writes the engine messages to
the acklog.txt
Would be nice for the development to have a
-console engine argument, to write
the dialog messages alternatively/additionally to the
console (command promt when starting acknex there).
To have a constant stream of messages...
This way its easier to observe custom messages, warnings etc at runtime.

yes, would be a really cool feature!
maybe also for debugging and console commands!

To add to this pile, it would be good, if the console would be a bit more sophisticated than just a line in the bottom. Steam and HL are good examples, on how a good console looks like.
- History of previous commands
- Clear input panel
- Command completion
It would help debugging a lot more!

Really like this idea
have been thinking of ways to make my own, but would save us from "re-inventing the wheel".

Yes, a real console has been already requested in the past, and is useful in many situations. We'll think over a solution.

Re: -console - 03/30/11 13:19
Ok good.
Its does not nessecarily need to be using the engine to
render the console with fancy fonts etc.
For development its sufficient to print it into a command-console,
either where the engine was started, or opened as sepered window.
The main purpose is to have a convinient way
to show realtime messages / logs, for debugging and overview.

Meanwhile you can use a tool like "mTail".
I use it on my second monitor so I can see the log messages in realtime.
You can add filters directly to the log, so that only special messages are shown.
