Broker Connection Failure - 11/26/17 15:53

Hi all,

New to Zorro community, so please pardon what might be considered a dumb question.

I'm having trouble connecting to the Oanda broker. I read the manual and have thouroughly searched the forums but cannot seem to find a remedy.

I am getting an error message (i'm using 1.66) after clicking trade:

z2.x..
Oanda.dll = > Oanda V20 plugin mounted
Login Oanda v20
!Insufficient authorization to perform request.
!No valid account!
Can't connect!

After reading the getting started manual it seemed to imply all you needed to input was your broker username and password in the appropriate boxes. I am also hearing things in the forums about having a correct API key. Does this go in the User ID box instead of the actual broker username?

I'm sure this is a very small user error. Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure if this will help, but perhaps you are supposed to add a line:

Quote:
OandaKey = "..."

to the Zorro.ini file in the main folder? That is where other API keys usually go.

No, Zorro ini is not for that. But you must get from Oanda an authorization token. You find more about that on the Oanda website, or in the Zorro manual, look for "Oanda".

Thanks for the reply Hredot!

I had some (probably dumb, again) follow up questions to your post:

Where do I add that line to? The user box?

Also where do I find Zorro.ini? I checked in program files and could not find anything other than the executable

Thanks for the support guys. I have resolved the issue.

For any new members that enter your username and password in the respective boxes - this is not how you do it. The manual is not particularly clear on that in start-up unless you search "Oanda".

Get the API token from your Oanda account under manage API and use that as your password and the normal username.

Thanks again!

Hi , I think no blame to the manual :-)... have a look to my screenshot attached .

Side comment : Always risky to add MT4 during weekends, no ticks and MT4 is driven ONLY if a tick arrives from the broker

The skript "TradeTest" helps as well ; I am still on it as even though the script works , box is green and order seem to be send , MT4 of Oanda doesn´t do anything . smile

Need to deep dive further .....and .... I am not getting clear on the setup and wonder if somebody could please explain =>

Using the Oanda API and running the script "TradeTest" with success , I managed to observe Trades being opened and closed with both , the Oanda Web Trading Platform as well as on the Oanda Desktop Platform . And both plattforms allow me to logon with the long API Account# ( 15 Digits + )
VERSUS : I could also obtain a green light at Zorro and I could see quotes arriving at Zorro with my MT4 Demo plattform . But I failed to see orders arrive at the MT4 . This MT4 I could only logon with the "usual" 6 Digit MT4 account# and not with the long API # .

So , is it incorrect , to expect that the API would control Metatrader ?

Further , trying to connect MT4 with the "ZORRO MT4" (EA & Lib ) , I failed as well and could not even get the script to work . I used the same MT4 account# which correlates to the API account# .... mistake ?

Many thanks

Wolfgang
