CSV Import - 07/18/17 18:12

Hello,

I am a newbie and would appreciate someone answering a question regarding CSV import of data:

1. It appears that I need Zorro S to import external data into T1 struct to be used as an indicator for an asset? That is, I have macro data that I would like to use from CSV data (to .t1) but Zorro S can only read this data? Am I limited to just OHLC?

If this is the case, it doesn't seem very user friendly to test the product unless you pay for it? Based on the web site, it made it seem that it was not crippled until profit. I am all for paying a license fee, but I can't even get started testing without other data points than just price...

Please help,
John

I think you misunderstood this, at least I find no mention of such a limitation when looking at the list of sponsor features:

This section might be helpful, especially the section "Importing trade lists and other data from CSV"

In the manual, http://zorro-trader.com/manual/en/export.htm, it says:

"For downloading and reading .t1 files, Zorro S is required"

My understanding is that once I import the data from CSV and save as .t1, I won't be able to read the .t1 file (when selecting the asset) unless I have Zorro S. It's not listed as a restriction but it is stated in the manual link you provided.

Sorry John. Ignore the link I posted. I misread your question.

I thought I saw someone ask about this recently. I'm certain that JCL confirmed that t1 files are unavailable in [Test] or [Train] mode for Zorro F users. There should be a comparison table for the two version but I haven't been able to find one. Doesn't mean it doesn't exists...just I'm male...and we all know how well we go looking for things smirk

T1 is for tick data. You are saying that you have macro data. Why would you want to import this as ticks?

You can probably use .t1 data even in the free Zorro version when you open it with a dataset command and then parse the prices out of it by script. But since the minimum bar and tick period of the free version is 1 minute, higher resolution data would not give you an advantage.
