MT4 (demo) can't connect to AxiTrader broker demo account - 03/13/17 10:54

Hi,

Just wonder whether anyone here has encountered something similar. I am using Australia based AxiTrader as the Demo broker. Zorro's MT4 (demo) Bridget can't connect to the account using the Demo option but it connects fine when Real is selected. In the log it shows the following for Demo option:

Login MT4 (demo)..
!Can't initialize MT4 bridge!
Check account number 20341097
Can't connect

This broker has AxiTrader-US03-Demo as the connection name under MT4 accounts. Does Zorror use some kind of calculation to check the account number is indeed a Demo account number before the connection? And that number failed the check?

Thanks,

Hi, I can't help with your problem - i don't live in Australia unfortunately - but I am working on the exact same thing today - that is getting Zorro running in both demo and live vs MT4. Today was a good here I've got both running to my satisfaction. I think ....

I've seen the error error you printed many many times. Here is my check list :

a) triple check auto trading enabled (!!)
b) don't try to open demo and live in the same MT4 - even though you can
c) start Zorro first then start MT4. Repeat again and again till success.
d) make sure account really is demo and MT4 enabled by calling broker

I would say in general if you can log into mt4 with the demo credentials and connect to the broker then no reason Zorro shouldn't be able to control it.

That's it thought I would share. Good luck.

All good advices, except for c). It does not matter what you start first. Demo or real is checked in the MT4 script, not from the account number.

If you can't get the MT4 bridge to run, oP group offers a bridge installation service on the download page.

Thanks @jrath and @jcl.

The problem I have is not really about getting the MT4 bridge to run.

Basically, I have the same MT4 demo account. I can get it running as the Real account (the Real selection is chosen) via the MT4 bridge. However, if I choose to run it as Demo account, then I get this error message. When I can verify that this account is in fact a Demo not a live account. So this troubles me a little and try to find out why this happens.

And I did try multiple combinations of starting up sequence even with different computers and VMs, but none worked so far using Demo option.

I did a little debugging from the MT4 Zorror EA script. It seems when I choose the Real option, Zorror send through a command 160 (comment) then it follows with a success connected message. If I have chosen the Demo option, then no command is sent through to the MT4 script. This is all done using the same account setup and just choosing the different account type.

I am using the Zorror 1.54 and the MT4 bridge was installed using the files from ZorrorMT4.zip, which comes with the Zorror installation.

In order to find out whether the problem is with this broker's demo account or not, I have also registered a Oanda demo account. This Oanda demo account seems don't have this problem. I can connect to the account as Demo only not the Real via the MT4 bridge.

This seems to suggest the MT4 bridge has a bug in handling this kind of Demo account?

Re: MT4 (demo) can't connect to AxiTrader broker demo account - 03/16/17 01:22

Ok, I find out the cause. It seems for this particular broker's Demo account, it does not set the demo flag inside MT4 correctly, so the IsDemo() will always return false. If Zorror MT4 bridge is using this function to tell whether an account is a demo or live, then it will fail.

Basically, if anyone from Austrlia wants to test out the Zorro using a demo account then they might better using a different broker.
