Cyrpto currency arbitrage

Cyrpto currency arbitrage - 01/08/18 04:04

Recently I've been looking at this possibility. Quite often there 2-12% price difference between exchanges for the same asset.

There are websites which aggregate this data like this one.

Could a script be used to provide trading signals for crypto currency arbitrage between exchanges?

I there is an example already, just adapt for the currencies you want to trade

I just make some experiments with BTCUSD, ETHUSD and LTCUSD while experiencing some inconsistencies with the arbitrage script - but it could also be my fault. You can join here: http://www.opserver.de/ubb7/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=468286#Post468286.

I was thinking about arbitrage between bitcoin futures and bitcoin, I'm not sure if there isn't some problem I don't know about. It looks too easy, I'm suspicious laugh

There seems to be actually a massive problem with missing liquidity on the crypto currencies CFD markets. Some brokers (traditional, not crypto exchanges) who recently introduced them suspended trading already again. Referring to the crypto exchanges I have no idea if automated trading in general and if especially arbitrage trading is really possible there. Technically there is a plugin for Kraken and BitTrex for now and in absence of any MT4 usage the other exchanges are not reachable. As far as I can see neither Kraken nor BitTrex offer demo accounts, so the show takes place with real money from the start. Has anyone already experiences in trading at one of these exchanges?

I used Kraken's API quite intensively for several months (until about 1-2 months ago), and in the last times it became virtually unusable (errors, no replies, delays,...). However, I tested it some days ago and it improved quite a lot, becoming usable again.
On Bittrex I traded only manually, but only from time to time: no problems so far.
From my experience (about 1 year) on cryptoexchanges, the usability tends to worsen dramatically during large market movements, most probably due to overload.

Did you use the Zorro plugin or your own software for Kraken's API? Problems with overload I can confirm, they concern not only to the API but also to web services. I guess these exchanges have never seen such traffic before Bitcoin & Co. became 'public' latest with BTC Futures releases and in the days before.

I was using the API in my own software.
Yes, the website was giving all sort of problems as well.
Actually, the malfunctioning on Kraken was already quite massive in August/September.
About the BTC Future releases... They surely gave an additional kick to the traffic increase, but the growth of the cryptomarket was already extremely fast months before: that was in fact one reason why BTC Futures were introduced in the first place. laugh
In any case, speaking about arbitrage, I can say first hand that it was quite profitable in the last months, mostly when operated between fiat and cryptocurrencies. One of the most annoying difficulty doing that, however, is that you get all sorts of delays/issues due to the interface between the banks and the cryptoexchanges.
