Re: Wanted:Mini Games from other 3dgs users. Upto 50% commission - 11/28/09 22:51

this is an interesting concept.

The presentation still needs some work, especially the application where you can select and play the scenarioz. I thing that it should rather be a window based application, not full screen! A bit more like "steam" from valve..
those rolling screen changes are soo 1999 wink. Also those scenarioz need a good description!

the shooter tutorial is way too low quality, sorry. It might really scare away possible customers. The jumping part was really frustrating.

other than that, I'm already thinking about what mini scenario i might add. Hope that you can assemble a solid base of applications with the help of the community!

Thanks for the feedback.

The Interface is open to change. There are a few ideas we have to try including a 3D interface. Making the application window based is no problem too.

I completely agree that the FPS Tutorial is too low quality. I created it to give developers an idea of what could be made. I will stick to the business of selling games rather than making them:)

Perhaps we could create a competition to make the best training for First Person Scenarioz or even for all of them. We would have to agree on a universal control for each scenarioz type.

The prize could be free scenarioz for life and perhaps a cash prize. Plus the fact that the winners work would be distributed in every scenarioz compilation.

again, thanks for the positive feedback.

Sorry but your sharing calculation is unacceptable.
The more items per compilation the less for the developer.

How do you plan on driving traffic to the site?

Thank you

Re: Wanted:Mini Games from other 3dgs users. Upto 50% commission - 12/04/09 15:41

mercuryus - thanks for your feedback.

The items per compilation will be fixed. All scenarioz except Mini Scenarioz will have 12-15 games per compilation. The more compilations means higher price but perhaps 12 should be the maximum.

Mini Scenarioz can go upto 20. (25 is too many considering the file size as well)

We are not talking about full games. They can be levels of a game, demos, small scenes etc. Games will also be available to buy as single scenarioz which will give developers a 50% commission.

I am willing to compromise since I want everyone to get a fair deal. What would you suggest as an acceptable sharing calculation for the compilations?

PigHunter

The Marketing campaign begins in the new year. This will depend on the number and quality of games. We will be advertising on gaming magazines, newsgroups and indie sites. Not to mention all the social networks and media newtworking sites. There is investment in this area which is of course vital for any chance of success.

Re: Wanted:Mini Games from other 3dgs users. Upto 50% commission - 12/04/09 15:45

since you are not funding project development in any way (you only distribute it), %50 share is low. (talking about single scenarioz.) If the concept was proven and it was sure that the scenarioz will sell good that could be fair but, since project is just begining you can't just get same share as the developers since the developer made the much of the work.

just my 2 cents, no offense.

Quadraxas

No offense taken. This discussion is required in order to make this succeed.

I can understand your point that the developer will be doing a lot of the work. However, I will be selling the games which will take a considerable amount of effort in the current market. This will also invlove website management, ecommerce investment, and completion of the user interface. There is also the FPS training to consider. I'm sure there will be more incentive if I post a competition with a cash prize.

The games won't sell obviously unless they are good quality. We will never know if it is proven until we try it. If people are willing to make small games which of are high quality I would be willing to take less and give more back. It has to be worth while for everyone, especially the user.

Please feel free to post your comments.

i told about the project to some of my friends, they think it would be good if you advertise it right.

you may also publish libraries to developers such as fps library (since you want to make controls same that feels like you are trying to make player feel familiar with diffrent scenarioz). i.e. fps libarary could include movement and weapon system. then every one could use these as base, so most fps scenarioz will have the same feel.

regards.

Re: Wanted:Mini Games from other 3dgs users. Upto 50% commission - 12/04/09 19:16

Speaking of the maximum number of games you include, I think that it is unwise to bundle them all together in one download. I think you should have a dedicated part of a server that hosts the mini game, and then the GUI connects to this area and then the user can download any game they want without having to have a massive filsize.

I don't know what you are writing the interface in, but personally I wouldn't use lite-c. I'd go for C#/C++.

Re: Wanted:Mini Games from other 3dgs users. Upto 50% commission - 12/07/09 12:06

Thanks again for feedback.

Users will be able to download scenarioz in sets (maxiumum 300mb) and as individual games.

After discussions with more 3dgs developers we have decided to make the offer more attractive. Since the developers will be making the games we are willing to offer a 75% commission deal. In addition, the number of games per compilation will be fixed.

Please read our updated Making Money section Making Money section.

Re: Wanted:Mini Games from other 3dgs users. Upto 50% commission - 01/03/10 13:59

Hi, I'm really interested in this discussion. I have been modelling for quite a few years and always had a copy of game studio A6 lying on my system which I used a few times, but never had enough time to dedicate myself to a serious project, only to give help to other users. However, since I'm about to buy A7 commercial, this could be a good opportunity to create something and be able to send it off rather than make something just for my own self educational purpose. Also, I don't have time to make a full commercial game, nor the expertise, but I think mini scenes will be feasible.

Will this project still be open after a couple of months? This is probably when I will have time to work on my projects.

EDIT: Sorry I mustn't have been with it that day, I notice now that you have stated that the deadline for the online shop will be March 2010 so presumely, can submit something anytime after then.

Indeed the deadline date is March for the opening of the shop.

Feel free to submit before if you complete your project. Do you have anything specific in mind for a scenarioz?

Rob
