Problem with registration at Regnow

Problem with registration at Regnow - 08/02/06 10:20

I signed up for Regnow's services and completed the first two steps, but the problem comes on the third step. These are the steps:

Quote:

1) Submit your account activation order by completing the RegNow ordering pages including credit card and billing information.

2) After you complete your order, you will receive an e-mail with a link that will allow you to electronically sign your Agreement with RegNow.

3) Once you have signed the agreement, you will be given information on how to contact a RegNow representative to activate your account.

Step 1 - I've done that without trouble.
Step 2 - I've done that as well.
Step 3 - That's the problem.

I got the information (and I backed it up), but no one is available for at least another two hours and I'm going to bed very soon and by the time I wake up, they'll be done for the day and I'd have to end up waiting even longer (even clear until August 4). It's 5:20 AM where I'm at and I'm going to bed in maybe 20 minutes, if that. I wake up and it'll likely be past 4 PM and it'll be too late. Is there another method for this so I can complete step 3 to list my game on Regnow?

Stay up later to catch them in the morning or go to bed earlier so you can wake up in time; these are the easiest solutions.

Going to bed between 4 to 6 am is fine for developers... but not for business men.

As you enter the business world, you will have to readjust your schedule to be in synch with the rest of the world. Trust me, as you are selling products and especially when you start dealing with customer support, it will be extremely convinient to start revolving your life around "normal" business hours.

The account has been activated and now I've run into even more problems and the help and support area isn't of any use. Easy-to-use control panel? Don't think so - where's the descriptions on what each field is? A boxshot is required, but what is that? It's also asking for three banners, of which I don't have any at all. More inconvieniences and a longer delay in releasing the game's full edition - just what I need.

A boxshot is a picture of the dvd/cd case of your game,
or the paper box in that the game would be sold the offline way.

I don't have either of those. Well, unless you consider one of those clear thin jewel cases, but that's nothing and lacks decoration. I even looked it up in the dictionary and there is no such word, even the very related suggestions ("box-shot" and "box shot") have absolutely nothing. What, since I don't have any, do I just upload an all-white 90-byte PNG image or something? It's a required field and can't continue without it.

Well, not every word is listed in a dictionary.
A boxshot or packshot is that:

You can easily create one by yourself, take a shot of an
empty dvd case and design something on it, or instead of the dvd a simple box.

Why is this field required at Regnow? There should be no reason why it's required, especially for indie developers. Of course, I could take out MED and model one slapping on some textures onto a cube to make it look like a boxshot to some extent. I took out google and found some similar things to what you have, mainly programs to create such things - MED can do that.

You can always use your splash screen, or your favorite screenshot as the box shot image. Put a picture of your dog, what ever you think will help turn a person interested in your game into a buyer.

It's your chance to make an impression on a potential buyer. I would put something impressive up for your boxshot.

Maybe Ichiro can have Mimi hold a box mock for you, and use that shot.

I'm close to finished with the model of the box shot in MED. It seemed to be the only method I had available.

I'm now finished with the first version. Does this look decent:

High-res version (1600x1600)

Edit: I got a second angle at it. This one even looks better too.

Curiously, a few years ago, we had her do that for Inago Rage. The image is great if your game is about Ziti or other pastas.

Linguine Rage?
Farfalle Rage?
Campanella Rage?

Spaghetti Rage.

I'd do a vantage point like the above: no roll, and receding left-to-right. (With the text written the right way, of course.)

Thanks for the Mimi shot.

Uli you should seriously think about hiring Mimi as your Box Shot model. Getting attention will help sales.

Ichiro, how about "Trophy Penne Pasta".

Mimi? Who's Mimi? I've noticed that the color of the box is wrong - it's supposed to be a dark gray, not solid black.

Re: Problem with registration at Regnow - 08/08/06 10:46

So I made the changes now and I've made three other variants.

high-res version (1600x1600)
version 3, 40° offset, black box

high-res version (1600x1600)
version 4, 40° offset, dark gray box

high-res version (1600x1600)
version 5, 30° offset, dark gray box

I like number 4 better with number 5 being a close second.

Edit: I had "1600x1200" rather than "1600x1600" for the high res version's size.

Re: Problem with registration at Regnow - 08/27/06 08:44

The offset of the last is even better, but definately go with the black background color, not the greyish. I'd also put the screenshot a little bit higher, not almost at the bottom. Anyways, good luck,

Cheers

Re: Problem with registration at Regnow - 08/27/06 09:03

This thread is close to 3 weeks old and has otherwise been resolved. I'm using version 5 since it looks the best out of what I have. Thanks though for the input. I've made one sale so far (expected primarily because my website lacks traffic). From the statistics I have, it could be as much as 20 days before I get another sale if I don't do anything about it - that's a long time! What matters to me is that it adds up.
