Mracni Zamak (Dark Castle) Prefabs&Models&Demo - 08/08/09 19:52

Hello,

I took few days off from my project to ql-down and do something else so I decided it is time (finally) to make my first contribution. It's small but I think very practical.

Idea was to make some sort of prefab walls and objects that fit together and can be easily combined to make different rooms and corridors. In that way, with small geometry & texture modification, whole level can be build in a few hours.

Geometry is nicely optimized in areas that can't be seen with NONE-set-textures for WMPs & deleted faces for MDLs.

Here is the new, final pack of Mracni Zamak or Dark Castle (in translation). It contains six objects, five wall variations and one animated double door in three versions.

Here is a small demo level containing four rooms (small hall, defense room, room with cages and some sort of dark church) & one corridor that shows possible usage of files. It contains few models from Terminal26 (GraFix DESIGN interactiveŽ) and one animated model from Psionic3d for creating the better atmosphere.

this looks awesome, how long did it take to build the level in wed? did u turn or radiosity? just a little curious because we're wondering if we can use WED for our level designs or rather use something like 3dsmax and make model based levels

Re: Mracni Zamak (Dark Castle) Prefabs&Models&Demo - 08/08/09 23:09

Thanx for checking it out smile

The level (room) is model-based and composed entirely from mdl files. Mdl geometry and texturing was, however, done in WED and shadowmapped in Blender. There are 4 dynamic lights present in room but only for shaders.

Max is great but I easily turn from 200 to 20000 faces with that and similar programs. WED keeps me low-poly... and low-budget grin

Re: Mracni Zamak (Dark Castle) Prefabs&Models&Demo - 08/09/09 22:36

Thanx smile I am really enjoying this modeling break from my main project.

There are few more things left to finish for Dark Castle and then I will upload final version of prefab/model pack & new demo.

Have fun cool

Re: Mracni Zamak (Dark Castle) Prefabs&Models&Demo - 08/12/09 18:58

I finished with uploading new, final pack & demo smile

As can be read up- pack contains six objects, five wall variations and one animated double door in three versions.

Demo is made out of four rooms (small hall, defense room, room with cages and some sort of dark church) & one corridor. All rooms in demo are clicked from geometry currently present in pack. It has nice music, some Termina26 models and one small monster from Psionic3D.

So... enjoy! smile

There are few bugs with geometry edges in demo that are easy to fix but at this moment I don't have time to do it. I will fix them in a few days and probably re-upload the demo.

Just looks wonderful.. you're really skilled. This type of level would be great for a remake of "Hexen" or "Heretic".

Cheerio

Thanx smile
I'm glad you like it. I always enjoyed your contributions and always had good use for them in my work. Your furniture model pack cool (from historical reconstruction of a merchant's mansion in Leipzig) is one of the best things I ever downloaded from contributions page.
