nice, from my point of view the big teeth should point slightly more forward

Re: (free) LOW poly skull with funny teeth - 09/26/06 14:40

Didnt realize how many polys it acctually had. I figured since it would most likley be a static model it wouldnt matter too much how the mesh looked. So decimated it ... Got it down to 614 polys Still looks damn good to in my opinon. All it needs is a good skin.

@FeiHongJr: of course i don't. the origin model is even 200 polys lower than yours (i do subdivision box modelling), but the shape just comes from the subdiv process.
for all who don't like the teeth, just cut em off i needed it this way, because it will become part of a pass. this is the reason why the back head doesn't have any detail at all, it will be deep in a stone wall.

thx for the nice comments btw

Wow, excellent! I;ve been looking for a decent skull everywhere, had just resolved to make my own (and failed royally ), and this comes along. Anyway, great model, shouldn't be too hard to shave off a few polys where necessary.

Wasnt hard at all.. In fact blender can do most the work for you. or you can download this one. LowpolySkull

I just ran it thru blenders decimation moddifier a few times. Its better to do a little at a time then try all at once. I set it to .9 and decimated about 5-6 times I think. Unless your planning to animate it shouldnt be a problem at all. I couldve probally ran it thru once or twice more.

Decimation modifier? I gotta find out about that...

Yea its pretty nice for models that arent going to be animated since it screws up the mesh. Which also makes it kind of difficult to unwrap most times.

Its pretty simple just open a model in blender look for the moddifiers and select decimation. You can then adjut the decimation level. Leaving it as is will split all quads to tris but dragging the slider below 1 starts shaving them a little at a time. Then just click apply and your set... Like I said its ussually beter to do a little at a time instead of just setting the slider to a very low number from the start... Just play around with it a little and you can get some decent results..
