A7 logo contest - the poll

and the results are bad (imho), the rendering done outside GS's scope, that also doesn't actually _have_ the corporating 'ad'..

the rubiks cube sucks AS LOGO, it looks like a ad for Cinema 4D or just as product image for 3dgs, but not as logo :/

I find this logo simple, clear, exquisit and professional at the same time.

Ventilator:
The cubes from SFMat with level shots applied are a good idea. And I would even like to see it as a small video with animated cubes and videos projectes just for a few seconds. That would look cool.
Another idea would be to give the source file of this logo to apply your own level shots at the cubes. That would be perfect fusion of A7 and your game.

Because of that my other voice voted for SFMat.

As a branding consultant for more than 10 years now I had to vote for 'Kringel' and 'Clean2' as they tick all the right boxes in terms of the target audience, form & function and scope (both images work for all media, digital, print, etc etc...)



The above image brings something new to the brand, creating an icon that has much in common with the likes of 3D Studio Max and Maya.

Additionally the bounding box / tablet form of the logo lends itself very well as an anchor as well as a centralized tag. It is also something that can easily be converted to full 3D, (Thinking of Space Oddessey and the Black Tablets).



My second choice has much in common with the previous in terms of media delivery. The icon is nice and simple and has a high level of re-usability. It also lends itself very well as a button or other type of icon.

If the later logo was utilised I would suggest commisioning a broader set of these icons to provide themed iconography for use throughout GStudios forums and portals.

If I had to pick one of them I would have to choose 'Kringel' but either could work

@indiGLOW: thanks a lot! Its good to see that some business people like you approve it, I was a bit uneasy about the commercial aspect, especially when it comes to my curl design.

I like Alex 3000 logo very much because:

1. Reuse the original lite-c logo (so cool) with little tweak.
2. The style of a7 3D logo match my taste.

BTW showing a light bulb obvious make me think it is not game engine logo, but like more like a Phxlxps light bulb logo.

Clean2 is a great collection, and looks very professional. Although, Zapan really stuck out for me, it makes me want the product more, as an in-your-face clean cut logo. Either one would do, and a great job all around, some real design talent around here.

would someone please vote for BigA so i can still win the "consolation prize"?

yay, so i preserved my winning chances ^^

Although none of all submitted logos was perfect for an A7 splash screen, some came close. The main difficulty was probably the light bulb, which is hard to convert to a logo. Our favorites were:



A very good logo idea, combining both the light bulb and A7. The only slight disadvantage was that the 'A7' is a little hard to recognize.

Next, another good design:



Problem here: The light bulb above the '7' is too small in comparison to the rest of the logo.

And finally, the justified finalist of the poll:



A clever solution for the light bulb. Only the font used for 'A7' does not fit perfectly - the round light bulb would require a more straight font. Like in the other contribution by HeelX:



So if we combine the elements from the entries, HeelX comes closest and herewith we declare him the winner of the 2007 logo contest! Please contact me about your prize.

Thanks for all the support I received in the last one and a half months.

It was really exciting with lots of good entries with different styles and professionalism. I'm sure the end result will both justify the objectives of conitec and the desire of the community for a new logo that steers the highly anticipated new engine version into a new direction (I hope so ).

I will try to not forget that I wanted to do a final version of the oldskool cube with that fire and stuff - if you like this more
