Re: Garage Quake Advances - 03/13/10 13:04

It really looks pretty good - a nice retro style, nice effects...
Really, nice progress. Level design and item placing also fits good together as far as I can see.
But try to post further progress in the same topic.^^

Re: Garage Quake Advances - 03/13/10 14:22

your shooting mechanics look boring though, really, if its a shooter, put more time in the shooting, add some effects and why is that shotgun so weak? isnt the most powerful one in quake, i use to love saving that for quick upclose kills

Thanks, friend. Visit the site and download the models. I hope they be useful for you.

DarkInferno - 03/13/10 15:33

When you say "shooting mechanics" you refer to gun animation? If it is that, i am using the original animations. And using the shooting animation frames.

We have to understand that quake 2 is from 1998.For example, if you remember, the guns in Quake 2 doesnt have RELOADING animation. In that momment( 1998 ) it looked good.

About the Blaster damage power , you are right, it is working 50% of its original power. In the original version, Soldier dies when i shoot twice, in my version i have to shoot four times to kill him.

Thanks, friend.

Visit my site and download the models.

you really need to stop opening a new topic everytime you have a updateon this project, just re-use the old ones.

Re: DarkInferno - 03/14/10 03:26

no, not animations, visual effects, sprites and particles are needed, they may seem like minor elements but they affect the 'feel' of the game, shooting mechanics as to do with how the gun 'feels' upon fire, every gun game has a different feel, it depends on:

- gun sound effect [u have this]
- muzzle flash
- firing animation [u have this]
- tracer effect and speed/style of the tracer [alot of games tend to ignore this]
- enemy hit effect
- enemy reaction upon hit [u seem to have this]
- hit sound effect

based on how the above is done, a game can have great to terrible mechanics, ofcourse some of them are optional also

Re: DarkInferno - 03/14/10 07:33

What you want?
A copy from Quake2?

I do not think that ID Software agreed with that copy.

you cannot release this game.

Re: DarkInferno - 03/14/10 09:48

no you can copy quake1,2 and 3.

Re: DarkInferno - 04/01/10 22:15

mann, if you wanna make the shotgun so week, why not just use the small shotgun model, the one your using now is suppose to be real powerful, i remember and loved it.. and i see your adding effects [i think], i dont like the muzzle flash, i see you created it in the world and the muzzle position but you should make it Stay on the muzzle and make it disappear faster, its looking like your shooting plasma or something

Re: DarkInferno - 04/02/10 08:06

hmm, I dont really like the metallica song for this game, It destroys the atmosphere somehow, only running through the game and killing everybody standing in the way grin
Posted By: Erick_Castro

Re: DarkInferno - 04/02/10 12:45

MPQ, but soldiers sometimes need this fucking-marihuana-songs to get high

laugh

Thanks for your opinion, friend.

Re: DarkInferno - 04/02/10 12:49

Hmm, I'd rather say Metallica's songs are f*cking-alcohol-songs... grin
However, I think that special song is a bit too, hm, fast for your current game pace; I'd rather take "Seek and Destroy" or "Sad but True"; also damn heavy, but a bit slower and marching.

Re: DarkInferno - 04/02/10 12:56

Go to
ocremix.org

grap a nice metalic remix of a game song, give credits at the end of your video, and everything is fine wink.
