A new Gamestudio update is available for a public beta test:

New features of Gamestudio 8.40: augmented reality, cloth simulation, 3D mode for beam and streak effects, improvements for lite-C and the map compiler, and many new or improved engine functions. A detailed list can be found here:

Install the update over your Gamestudio 8.30 version. Please report any problems to the bug forum.

The goodies pack contains an old version of "pathfinding.c". The function "ent_path_calculate_all()" has the following line of code (515):
var num_paths = 2;
that needs to be removed (because "num_paths" didn't exist back then).

The pathfinding script is nice, but it doesn't work reliable in some cases, or, optimization for near nodes is not always done: video link. Otherwise: nice script, Felix!

Thanks for the video. The second optimization bug should be fixed easily and I will see what I can do about the first bug. The worst solution that I can think of right now is that the user has to set a path skill (f.i. the 1st one) to non-zero when nodes are crucial and must not be skipped.

Hello,

When I have install the new version, I have this error at the end of the install.



I test knights_on_wheels.c I have an error E1513 Script crash in car_noise.

I test reactiontest.c when a press just the key 5 I have an error malfunction w1501 Empty pointer in main.

Thanks for the info - this install error message will be removed in the final release. However, it can be safely ignored for the moment, as it does not affect the installation.

the problem with the taskbar icon still exists (16.ico into the same folder as the exe.. but still the acknex icon in the bar)
will it be fixed for the final release or the next update?

that´s not the icon i meant ^^
Changing the exe icon works just for the exe.. but not for the taskbar icon ^^

Uhm, are you sure?

Because, changing the exe icon inside the exe works for me. (Also changes the taskbar icon)

not for me..
i changed the exe icon for the create_BIND_WDL.exe, and tried it again.. still the blue acknex icon in the taskbar

i'm using reshacker since my rpg-maker 2000 times
i searched trough every folder and subfolder and changed every icon i found + icon change with res hacker ressource changing tool.
no success - stillthe acknex icon in the taskbar

If I remember correctly, there is icon caching in some situations. Try testwise renaming your final exe.

i mean.. the manual destricbed method should work.. otherwise it needs to be said in the manual that it´s not working anymore...

I confirm the icon problem. It happens with all A8 versions.

We'll check if it can still be fixed in 8.40; otherwise it will be fixed in the following version.
