I've created a simple (and much worse) clone of the great game Minecraft.
Press and hold the left mouse button to dig, click with the right mouse button to build a block. Run with WASD and jump with space.

Download v1.5!

I've included default.c, so feel free to use it (fullscreen, fps, ...).

If you give it a try, please tell me your fps and if you want to, post a picture of your buildings.

Have fun!

EDIT: Download v2.2, Multiplayer only!

It's not the same as the singleplayer version, it's a different game. The goal is to drop the other players from the platform by removing blocks below them.

Server is OFFLINE!

Control:
WASD - move
Space - jump
Left Mousebutton - remove blocks
Right Mousebutton - create blocks
T - chat
F1 - lock mouse in window

Great feature - to build the blocks beneath the feets!
Disappointing that I hit the roof of the sky!, though! grin
Between 30 and 40 fps with almost all landscape in view. Runbs fluently on my old system: 3 GHz Pentium 4, Ati X300, 1Gb RAM.

Hey,

It was always smooth (no lags or so) - the lowest fps I got was 28, usually more than 50. (Pentium D @ 2,8 GhZ, nVidia GT9600, 3 GB Ram)

All in all it is nice, but I would like to have some variation of the textures and maybe some particles? The water did not really match the scene, as this was looking so "now days graphics" and the rest older ^^

nice! so what's your plan to get this working with huge worlds? tongue i think it will get a bit more complicated then.

the mesh generation method looks more simple to me and a lot more promising performance-wise. i tried to work on it but i am totally out of routine with gamestudio and got stuck at the first small hurdle. laugh

Hi,

The lowest fps here was 155, highest more than 500 (Core i5 3.1 GhZ, nVidia gtx 460, 4 GB RAM but only 32-bit system right now).

Keep on working! Different styles of the cubes would be nice and of course multiplayer! tongue
Maybe you can also add complete objects like bridges or trees (out of blocks) too.

This is really cool! How did you make this work? I can't seem to think of how it would be put together without reaching too many objects limits...

Good work, I really enjoyed it smile Must admit I agree about the water though, it does seem a bit off compered to other surroundings.

As for fps, it never dropped below 170 & in 80% of the time it was somewhere between 300/500. My confa is: Intel Core i5-750 (2.66Ghz), ATI Radeon HD5750 1GB, 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz Kingston.

I really like this, I have been thinking about this as well for a bit.

I remembered an old post by Zapan@work that might be worth the implementation (if you didnt already laugh ).

works well:
windowed mode: ~50 FPS
Fullscreen: ~60 FPS

maybe you should support some sort of save/load function, so we can upload our levels...
and also you can do something like an bulldozer to create a big plain(don't know if its the right word)
