How do you know that this was the sole purpose? Guilty unless proven innocent? Hmm, maybe another reason was that her boyfriend at the time just wasn't doing it for her? Ehh, it's still kinda fucked up!

Besides, this is a general problem and instead of motivating a general discussion you prefer to project your anger on a single individual which is in no way constructive. Pretty sure I mentioned the other 5 people involved in this as well, in case you haven't noticed. Hummel, this isn't about a girl or the patriarchy oppressing anyone. If you sleep with your boss, you will be called out on it too. If you start an intimate relationship with someone, it will change their view on you and how they treat you, simple as that. I don't say she is not allowed to have sex with whomever she likes, although cheating on your SO is a fucked up thing, but wether it was her sole purpose or not, she shouldn't have done it in the first place. There are just people whom you shouldn't be in a relationship like that, this goes for males and females alike.

Hummel, this isn't about a girl or the patriarchy oppressing anyone. I'm convinced that it is a driving power. Remember that not so unimportant journalist who harassed a female fellow on chat a while ago? Didn't produce nearly as big of an outcry as this destructive shitstorm now. And the facts around there were quite clear. Well, the way this campaign developed pretty much negates every valid point there might have been at it's core at some point in time, anyway. There is simply no place for a constructive debate atm.

Remember that not so unimportant journalist who harassed a female fellow on chat a while ago? Remember that big feminist organization which organized a rally at the university of Toronto last year and literally shouted and insulted at every man who walked by last year without provocation? Everybody ended up forgetting about that too. I mean, ffs, every year when I sign up for classes and complete my form for federal education funding, I'm given a list of boxes not to check about my racial and sexual status: I'm not female, I'm not black, I'm not hispanic, I'm not asian. I'm not foreign, I'm not gay, I'm not bisexual, I'm not gender queer, and I don't identify as rabbit-kin. Therefore, by the logic of my government and this society at large, I deserve less money for my education than anyone who is any one or more of those things. This is not about equality. If these people were truly egalitarian, they would not be distributing extra money to people for things that have absolutely nothing to do with the system they're actually enrolling in. Being gender-equal means setting up a system that is not biased anyway or the other, but simply protects each side from particular instances of injustice only when they arise. This is why I think the idea of the patriarchy is so stupid. I'm willing to buy into the idea that women have historically had far less of an opportunity to excel and apply themselves because there are numerous factual cases where women's achievements weren't acknowledged for their sex, but today's society is worlds different from the way things were before. Do women still get picked on for their sex? Yeah, sometimes. Sexism isn't going away, but the idea that we can eliminate it by tipping all of the scales in women's favor is ridiculous and will only serve to create more contention and strife in the future. Seriously, some people need to just get a grip on reality and realize that political correctness is as much a part of the problem as the social problems underneath it. Morgan Freeman gets it!

Well, the way this campaign developed pretty much negates every valid point there might have been at it's core at some point in time, anyway. There is simply no place for a constructive debate atm. That's like saying "Well, public service workers don't earn enough to make a decent living. Therefore, instead of fixing that problem, we should make it our agenda to lower all wages enough so everyone has a shitty live." It's a good thing Zoe got called out. Period, everything else will send the message that that's totally A-Ok to do. That there are other issues in this world, well, no one is denying that, but that's beyond the point. "Well, yeah, that was a shitty thing to do. But the world totally sucks anyways so who cares" is a pretty pathetic point of view, if you ask me.

It's a good thing Zoe got called out. So it's a good thing that people share private photos of her online and stalk her and her relatives irl? Or do you really think that one could consider any potentially valid point in isolation from the clusterfuck around? That was what this quote was about. Not about adapting the standards for all or something.
