Hi. I know the models are low poly for speed etc. But I'm wondering if somewhere I can download a high poly MDL for a normal walking man, the reason being since the player is walking around, you usually see him all the time, especially from the back. It would be worth investing in a high poly Male MDL. Ideally I'm looking for a normal guy in casual clothes or a suit, not army clothes or a spacesuit. I only need it to have the standing and walk animations in order for it to explore in an adventure style game. Does anyone know where I could get a high quality MDL like that?

It's not Mc Donald here Hi , i want a character ... Have you used Google ? it's your best friend ! Try perhaps some specialised forums like CgSociety, Polycount, Game Artisans etc ... and ask ! Or just go t oturbosquid and type : character and lower price to find free ones ! TurBoSquid characters The most wasn't animated, and you'll have to rig them and animate befoer exporting from FBX to MDL ! Why not using a low poly model of A8 package to prototype simply ?? and you'll once the game works good ,you just buy a model at low price , why not ? Dexsoft and other have really cheap and great complete animated characters. Stop beeing so lazy ... Hard work now ... !

Turbosquid isn't usually a very good resource for me. Sometimes you can find real gems in there but the quality isn't consistent and you can never much of what you're looking for.
Dexsoft produces some excellent game-ready models but doesn't have a very large selection. If you're willing to go down a little lower in quality, Blattsalat is a forum member here who will be able to whip up some custom models for you for a relatively low cost.
By the way, I've seen some of the stuff you've made so far with Gamestudio, and I have to suggest that you invest some time and money into getting your hands on some higher quality textures. Standard.wad textures used to be decent 10 years ago, but nowadays they just look bad. At the very least, I suggest you go to the Download page here on the Gamestudio website and buy a copy of the HiRes Textures collection. It's only $20 and gives you the same textures from standard.wad in a much higher quality.
EDIT: Now that I think of it, the Download page also has several links to some 3rd party websites that offer lots of other artwork and resources. You should check it out.

Thanks. I have bought a dozen or so models from turbosquid. I was asking if there is a place that has models specifically in 3dGamestudio's MDL/MDL2 format with a walking animation. Free or cheap isn't the issue. I'm an artist of sorts with different projects and I really spent several hundred dollars of my own funds on various models in the last thirty days, trees, buildings, haunted mansion and various people. The easiest I know to import into med are 3ds. I don't understand bones and have trouble putting them from the standard T-pose into a walk animation. Gamestudio has been around so many years SOMEONE must be selling higher priced higher polycount MDLs to use with it. Anyone else? Or has someone in the past made a NOIR profesoinal gane with 3dgamestudio who could sell me a walking male model I can load directly into the world editor?

My personnal suggestion : Step 1 ) The model is not what will make your game good, begin to make a great looking level and gameplay even by using A8 low poly characters : they have the animations you need ! So begin your game with them Setp 2 ) Once you will achieve some gameplay and level people find good : Some studios povide custom services : you ask for some specific or general model and they can make it specially for you, with the polycount you need , with the animations you wishes ! You could check that way also ! Or just check Dexsoft, you 'll find what you need i think Dexsoft characters

We have the model you need in MDL format ^^ $14 only. http://3dfoin.comAnd a lot more.

I bought some models from http://www.arteria3d.com/and they are good (just have some problem with shadows, because they have no closed mesh). I bought also man and women from 3dfoin and they are perfect for 3DGS (import is easy, closed mesh, nice animation). Dexsoft models are good, also :-)

Thank everyone for their suggestions. The models suggested by 3dfoin above looked good and were inexpensive. I've just bought the peasant pack to test it. I'm sorry if I seem ignorant about many of the procedures. Always in a rush, getting a large painting ready for a gallery in Seattle, writing another book, and editing 40 dv tapes of mine down to a You Tube movie. I steal these hours to create virtual worlds for myself.
EDIT: I want to correct an earlier statement that I couldn't find MDL files to download. 3dfinfo sent me another emall with MDL file links which I discovered when I came back later to the forum. I want to report that the MDL does indeed load into 3dgamestudion, and studied in MED, it has good animations.
