Hello guys,
It is time for me to buy a new pc, as actual games are lagging tongue. I want to have it as cheap as possible and also as good as possible.

This is what I thought:
Gigabyte Mainboard GA-790XT-USB3 (AM3, DDRII, ATX)
AMD HDZ965FBGMBOX CPU AMD AM3 Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Box
Corsair PC1866 Arbeitsspeicher 4GB (1866 MHz, 240-polig, 2x 2GB) DDR3-RAM Kit
Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 8,9 cm (3,5 Zoll) SATA interne Festplatte (7200RPM, 32MB Cache)
EVGA GeForce GTX460 SuperClocked (Retail, Mini-HDMI, 2x DVI)
Spire CPU Kühler TherMax Eclipse II - SP984B1-V2 für Sockel 1156 AM3 940 775 939 AM2 1366
be quiet! Netzteil 700W
Digitus DN-7006GT Netzwerk WLAN PCI Adapter 54 MBit, Realtek
LiteOn IHAS424-32 interner DVD Brenner (+24x16x8x, -24x16x6x, SATA, inkusive Nero) black

So - what do you think?

Best regards,
Rei

Selbstbau? Welcher Shop?

I have changed my budget a bit, however, what do you think? Is that future proof?
Will it run Crysis2 with High settings?

Well Crysis 2 hasn't been released so nobody can know how it will run - it definitely won't look bad with such a system... wink

In general I'd like to ask what your PC is meant for. For gaming there's no use for the 6 cores so go for a higher clocked quad core (and btw: no - Bulldozer CPUs won't make it this year but rather will take until like Q2 2011). Concerning the mainboard - well the Crosshair might have some nice features and a cool look but a board for around 100 € will run just as fast as the Crosshair does...

I then wouldn't choose a graphics card based on two GPUs like it's the case for the HD 5970 - you get too many disadvantages from such a design (micro stuttering and so on). You also might want to consider just getting a HD 5770 for now as there are going to be new ATI cards in October you might want to grab then...

And why do you plan such a high-end system and just take such a lousy cheap power supply? Don't underestimate this part of your PC! If you want to keep some room for a potential two chip graphics card I'd go for a Enermax PRO82+ 625W - if you just stay with a single GPU (what I'd recommend) go for the 525W version. There of course also are other good brands out there like be quiet! or Seasonic...

Thanks for the response laugh

I just talked with a friend which also said that the HD5970 is not the best choose...

Good to know that there will be newer graphic cards, because I can wait.

The computer is meant for gaming and programming - I am a fan of high-end graphic games like Crysis, Metro2033, FarCry2 and so on.

So, do you think it would be better to take a PhenomII X4 965 BE Edition? Or an Intel i5/i7?

Yes, you are right, I just took the first power supply I found, and it was cheap, so I thought: "Okay, seems to be okay". But do you think a good be quit! or Artic power supply would be good, too?

Which CPU and Graka would you take?

Yeah - the Phenom II X4 965 is fine although I guess you wouldn't notice the difference to the smaller 955 model which might save you quite some money depending on how the prices at your favorite shop are. I'd also recommend a nice CPU-Cooler like a Scythe Mugen 2 so your ears won't fall off... wink

Concerning the graphics card - well if you're into high-end graphics there's no way around a HD5870 but as I said it might be a good idea to either stick with what you currently have if that's possible or get a HD5770 as a short time solution until the new cards are out in October so you can get the HD5870 follow-up card. Rumors say it's going to be up to 20% faster but that might just turn out to be some fake news...

I somehow prefer Intel and NVidia, but other than AMDs bad developer support, I actually don´t really know why wink.
So far my i5 750 was enough for any game I played, the only problem of my system is the old graphicscard. Because of that I am waiting for new nvidia cards, hoping for something like the 470 but faster and more efficent wink. And as I am already waiting for quite some time, I don´t see a problem with waiting even longer now. And well, in the end I anyways don´t play much, even though Mafia 2 with the highest physics settings and at full resolution would definatly be great tongue
However, just wait as long as you can, as things will always get even better just some weeks later.
