Hey guys! I'm looking for a working fur shader. It's for a doggy . I know nothing about shaders. I was wondering if there was a working one somewhere. Also if it needs other textures can you explain how those other textures work? Just be sure to tell me everything I need.

Theres one on the wiki, by wdl_master i believe. What other textures would you need?

It was uploaded/edited on 25 May 2010 so it's not really old.

i tried using the fur shaders in the wiki and it didnt work for me. maybe i did something wrong. i think i used the two old ones though, not a new one.

does your fur shader work for A6?

@Blink > what's the problem with the one in the shader collection? I tested it the other day and it worked fine.

I assume effects work the same way in A6, as the shader code is dependent upon directX, not lite-c or c-script.

i think my problem is the image files that are supposed to be used with the shader. i dont have them, and they werent included with it. so my model is black.

Ah, well the only image the fur shader from the massive shader collection requires is a noise map, and there is one included with it, because that's the image I used to test it.

did anyone figure out how to use these yet? i am just curious.

I included a shader by Wdlmaster in my FXED tool and it worked fine.

i have A6. i didnt think your plug-in worked for it. only A7.

i downloaded the .net framework, and the program. i couldnt figure out how to use it. it just showed a mdl red with a black background. i will try the fur shader tommorow.

To use the fur shader, you need a bitmap with alpha channel(I prefer TGA or PNG). You can create one with GIMP

for what, exactly? i am not too sure what to make. any tga will suffice? is it the main skin that should be a tga? i am really confused.

The fur shader is basically a repeated toon shader except that where toon shader render the model twice with the second one's normal is flipped.
In the fur shader, the model rendered about 13 times(or maybe more for smoother and longer fur), the 1st pass rendered normally but from the 2nd pass, the model rendered using transparency with alphachannel red from the TGA.

The alpha channel in the tga must look like polkadot pattern , really , with the background being black and the pattern in full white.

The bitmap color it self is not taken into account I guess, just the alpha channel

so, i have to make the polkadot tga? i dont think i can do that,lol. i might mess it up! how big should the dots be, how many dots! wow i am crazy,lol.

ok...can anyone help me figure out how to use the fur shaders from the wiki? i need the tga file to apply, and i need to know how to make it work. my model keeps coming out black.

thank you very much. i am working on an educational game for my students. i have a haunted house and a werewolf. he is not furry, thats why i need fur, so he can look right.

wow this is still going. idk what the problem is blink. try using the shader as is in the shader viewer. make sure your hardware supports it.

I have A6, so I am not sure what plug-in i can run. my hardware supports shader model 2.0. i run other shaders fine. i think its how to set up a fur shader is my issue. i need all the tga's and the way to do it.
