We've recently received a support question of a user who could not play an MP3 file with media_play on his Windows 7 PC. MP3 however should be supported on all PCs, without needing to install a CODEC. We could not yet reproduce a problem with media_play on our own Windows 7 systems here.

Has anyone noticed a problem so far with media_play on his Windows 7 PC? If so, could you post your DxDiag output here?

gave it a quick try, no problems playing mp3s with media_play here.

edit: tried on 7.82.3, latest public release version.

doesn't media_play use windows codecs? if so i'd guess he has tampered with his codec installations. or is he sure that this problem only occurs with media_play? if i search for "windows 7 mp3 codec" i get hundreds of error reports, some driver and some codec related.

No problem here, media_play works under Windows 7 just as before.
