Um, hi, my name's 162 (pronounced "one sixty-two".)

I have a ton of game ideas, but the first oen I plan on working on with this program (should I actually buckle down and buy it) is my horror-survial game called "Seventh Spectrum."

Basically, it's about the story of Eileen Ivory, an American college student who won a contest for a cross country trip across Europe. Along with some friends, Eileen travels across the continent until reaching the small (fictatious) Eastern European country of Moldovia for a pit stop.

However, Eileen and her friends are mysteriously attacked by disguised men and she is knocked out. She awakens to find herself in a cage, but escapes with the help of a spectral, white wolf. Eileen sets out to save her friends, but ends up getting into a conflict with Moldovia's powerful ruler and the country's own occultist roots.

I like to think of it as Silent Hill meets Resident Evil 4 or something. Expect a lot of dark magic, monsters, and all that stuff. I have the whole story worked out, but I don't want to reveal much.

Do you have anything else to show or say?
Also is it really a good idea to create a post about an idea you want to make when you don't even own the engine?

Dunno....I suppose not. I guess I was just really excited about this idea.

(Damn, I'm acting like a dang newbie.)

That's fine, what i would advise is making a design document (or just a document with your ideas in detail) also maybe purchasing the engine or demoing it.
You can't really make a game if you can't use the engine.

Great! :-) That's a good point to start. Write your ideas down to a document as blade suggested. Get the free lite-c edition or one of the other editions of gamestudio and get started.

Do you have experience with programming or game design in general?

Always learn from history, to be sure you make the same mistakes again...

Ah...well...sort of. Ever hear of the RPG Maker series? Well, my experience is pretty much limited to that. (But I've been told that I'm bright and a quick learner.) Most of any user-dependent game design experience I've been through, needless to say, is writing.

I have already started an information archive (my story synopsis, script, character info, the works). I also want to buy the software, but my rescources are less than idea. (Damn college textbooks. Costs as much as the tuition.) However, I've always dreamed of creating my own game from my own designs.

The problem you have is selling your idea to all the other people who're testing or who've bought this program with their own ideas of wanting to make their game.

Getting someone to go with your way of thinking when you'll be contributing little other than what you want them to do will be tricky, but with previous experience/ a workflow with predicted timeline/ a story without giving too much away/ something to make people want to join will be your 1st step...

Then once you really believe in the project it's ideals and goals, and have the ability to sell it, will people want to join.

Although you've said you're acting like a newbie, it's surpassing the 1st step and realisation of this and will push you to either give up or get your ass into gear and make you able to contribute more than an "idea!"

Oh trust me, I'm not going to give up on this project. I was actually going to try to teach myself how to program games. (I went and got the lite-C program, and I'm told that it's good for learners like me.) Plus, I'm known to be quite persuasive, if necessary (but I hope that I can do fine on my own).

...I didn't mean to sound egotistical, just in case if that message came off that way.
