Is it possible to import a mesh as quads in WED?

Im pretty sure 3DGS is pure polys but I wanted to throw a quick question out to make sure.

My goal was to use a mesh that could c-trace the texture below the character moving across a grid but all my import attempts result in poly based models (im using the import as blocks).

After alot of experimenting Ive come to the conclusion an imported mesh as blocks will always display as polygons. (I know in the end of the render pipeline it is always tri's,).

Im being lazy and trying to find a fast workflow, building maps in max but texturing in WED. UV layouts are time consuming but so is texturing one poly at a time in wed...

Any tips from the pros greatly appreciated!

Hiya.

Tri's only. Any quads and n-gons will be converted into tri's. UV'ing polygons (tri's, quad's or n-gons) take time no matter what. Convert your mesh to all triangles and then do your UV'ing, unless your 3d program is really on the ball and will 'port over' a tri/quad/n-gon UV'ed mesh into pure tri's, yet keep the appropriate UV map (although going from n-gon to tri's is almost certain to cause you intense, searing, polygon-pain).

Bottom line...trying to texture a 3d-mesh in WED is like trying to paint a car made out of wet paper-mache...with a broom. Do yourself a favor and do all your texturing and UV'ing elsewhere. laugh
