Hi !
How can i disable/enable a static light ?

As I don't want to use dynamic light becaus of it's bad lighting behaviouron blocks, i need to use static light - but I don't know how to disable it in runtime and later enable it again.

Does anyone have a clue how to manage this or get a similar effect ?

Cheers

P.S.: i don't want to use shaders ^^

You can t enable and disable the staic light map because
it s render.

Try to use shadowmaps by models.

thank you for the answer !
This seems to be a professional but quite work intense solution smirk

My current approach to solve this problem is the usage of only dynamic light.
The problem with shadow casting which stopped me from using dynamic light is solvable/reducable through positioning lights at the positions where a shadow should be casted but isn't - these lights need to have the negative value in red/blue/green of the original light to eliminate it's effect.

But as this is a quite poor workaround I'm still searching for an easy approach to solve this problem.

Cheers

Can you give us a more specific/detailled description of what the lights are for?
Are you lighting a inside a room, an external scene, a specific model/entity, or what?
What is the purpose of having the light sometimes on, sometimes off?

Just trying to get an idea of the situation so I can maybe find another workaround.

Thx for the answer.

Well the lights on/off should simulate an electric light which can be switched on and switched off.
This would be needed in a room made of blocks and some mdls.
Therefore i need lighting that is as good as static light but as dynamic as dynamic light.

cheers

Hmm, not so easy.
If the room is never visible from "outside" the room, you could
maybe build that room with a low-brightness static light to generate
the shadows well.
Then whenever you are in that room, set the camera.ambient to low when
the light is OFF, thereby hiding the room contents and the shadows.
When the light is ON, set the camera.ambient to high thereby revealing
the room contents and the shadows.
