Hi,

I looked through the starving developers guide,
but didnt seem to find a CAD application,
excuse me if I missed one though.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a cheap or even open source but good cad software application for making good technical drawings, perhaps dxf export etc and some 3D/orthographic projection?

Thanks,

James.

google irgendwas (how was the name? dunno, look at the google software pages)
blender (better, way more complicated, you need much time to get behind the workflow)

Blender is good for CADding and modelling.

Only minus: the gui update isn't here yet, so it will take you 10minutes more to learn the layout. Just make sure you go through the basic tutorials! And after that you think there is no better way to do GUI

Ok I googled blender and cad,
I didnt find much.

I dont understand, I use 3ds max, isnt it a bit like saying I can do CAD in that? I want something more like autocad where it has symbols and a user freindly layout for technical drawing.

I found Turbocad which is about £79.....

You're welcome.
Find more, here for example:

@all:
I have to apologize. It looks like Blender and Wings3D (e.g.) are really consider as CAD-Software, so I was wrong.
