I am not 100% clear on the future of lighting and shadowing in GStudio. (help?) Are we moving towards a dynamic light, all model geometry world building environment?

If shadow mapped worlds are going to continue to be a important part - It would be great if static meshes could cast shadows on the world geo.

I was going to try to create a plugin for generating shadowmaps for dynamic entity shapes instead of just flat terrains, but the current limitations of mesh functions killed it...

Yes please.

If static meshes don't case shadows, please lets add this.

When you say "static meshes" you mean the meshes imported using WED or MED right (FBX)?

Hopefully any mesh with a certain (new) flag will be considered a solid by the compiler and generate a shadow.

Static meshes - i.e. meshes that you import in WED, supported by A7 - are integrated in the lightmapping process and do cast shadows.

BTW - I take it shaders and materials CAN'T be applied to these imports.
