I was hopeing to use overlay on a model on its first texture in order to blend two or more textures together on one model. I was hoping to use this effect so the user could define a background color (the second skin, this would be dynamically made) and this would be displayed behind a more complex design with black sections in it (the first skin, hopefully with overlay on it) to let the background color in it. But I really wasn't sure how to do this effect, is this possible with overlay or another feature or do I have to go about it another way. Thanks .

Any speculation or answer would be very appreciated. Does anyone have an idea of how to do what I am asking? Or is an issue that you don't understand what I am trying to ask. Any response would be great, thanks.

I'm about to give up with this feature guys, come on does anyone have a clue to do remotely what I am asking?

Im not sure if this is correct, but i think you need to use a shader or a fixed function in order to blend textures. I ran some tests with alpha maps too, but it never shows the underline texture because all the model assumes the alpha information.
Like i said maybe im wrong, but its easy to blend two or more textures with a multitexturing shader and an alpha map or rgb information skin. However, creating dinamically the second skin with a shader attached i dont think its easy too.
Sorry for not helping you more, maybe the shaders gurus can...but you have A5 engine...

What about coding your script so it replaces colors on certain places on a bitmap to the 3d object (I'm taking this idea from when you do things like add a blood bitmap and directly draw it on the 3d model), basicically I hardcode where the game knows to replace a given color, and then the only dynamic part of it is the color values that are chosen? I'm not sure how clear I'm being, what I mean is there are two ways of adding a bitmap to an object, one is to directly place a sprite on a surface, and another is to take that bitmap and draw it INTO the 3D object's bitmap that you want it to be applied to. But I'm not exactly sure how to do the second way. I think my origional suggestion (drawing on a bitmap through code) has a similar use in one of the AUM's but I'm not sure...

P.S. thanks for responding

I think I may have found (kinda) what I was looking for, I found the function pixel_to_bmap() in AUM 40, but it seems to be a a6 function, which is lame because I don't see how it could do anything remotely complex, anyway, can anyone tell me if pixel_to_bmap() or something similar is in the A5 version, or will I have to wait until I get the nerve (and money) to upgrade to a respectable A6 version?

Sorry, I don't have anything to add, but I would also olike to see an answer to these questions. Am I right in thinking your original idea was so that players could choose a colour for their character - for example, you have a standard map for one model with the coloured bits transparent, then underneath it you place a coloured map depending on the player's choice?
