Complete beginner...Need some easy answers. - 09/15/08 13:36

OK, I am a total newb at game programming. I have very little experience with any programming language, and probably a negative number on 3D models. I have what I believe is an absolutely phenomenal game idea (don't want to give anything away here) but needed some help. Found A7 as opposed to spending months if not years learning how to 3D model, program languages and what not. So, my question is, are the tutorials listed on the webpage all inclusive and the best place to learn the language basics? Or are there better "teach a baby how to walk" lessons somewhere? I am on lesson 6 of Lite-C of the tutorials and feel they are informative, but not sure they are where I need to start learning basics. Any suggestions? And just for the record, I am NOT looking for a point-and-click game creator, I AM willing to learn, just not sure where to start that will give me the best chance of success.

well it sound like you downloaded lite-c. the best think is just start doing things. start simple and work, work, work and work. it is not easy, but it can be done.

Did you get the A7 trial or did you get LiteC? lite-c doesn't include a level editor so you have to program everything. when your starting you'll want to have A7. as far as learning there should be a couple of tutorials on the downloads page. work through those first. For help with coding you should look at the AUM. and of course this forum. the people here are nice and like to help.

the manual is the right way to go! You can learn all you need to know from there. The basics are easy to learn, and once you have them by heart, you can use the manual reference pages to look up commands you need.

Also there are many other tutorials out there, but if you are smart enough, the manual is all you will _EVER_ need.

Like I use to say: The manual is your best friend. wink

I'm a complete beginner again, too.
