Step 5

Now that we have our height map and skin we can open MED and click the open button. At the bottom in the File of type we select Height Map Files, and select the file name of the height map we created in Bryce. Once open we will get a new dialog box with our option settings. You should play around with these since the best use will vary quite a bit on the terrain you are creating and can greatly affect the frame rate of your game. For now you can just leave them on the default settings and click OK.

We should now have a gray scaled terrain in MED. Now we can click on View in the title bar of MED then click on Skins. This will open the Skin Editor of MED. Then we click on File, Import, Skin Image and select the bmp file we created first in Bryce, our skin. It should load the skin in the window. We can now close the Skin Editor and go back to MED. Our terrain should now show the skinned height map.

We can now click File, Save and select a filename for our new terrain map. We can also close MED and open WED.

If you saved the hmp file from MED into the work directory of your game project it should be listed in the Add Terrain where you can click on it and add it to the game. If not you will need to click on Object, Load Entity and find the hmp file you saved it as, select it and click Open.
